RVR Longhorn Dog Food
February 4, 2025 • 0 comments

This recipe is adapted from one on Dinovite.com. While we've used Dinovite for about five years, we just started making our own dog food in October 2024. Our picky eaters devour it! And bonus, they look so healthy and fit.
Ingredients
- (5 lbs) Pet Grade Ground Beef
- (5 cups) Cooked and cooled white rice
- (9) Hard boiled eggs with the shells, cooled
- (1.5 cups) Dinovite for Dogs powdered supplement
Directions
- Cook your ground beef and let it cool
- Process hard boiled eggs, shell and all, in your food processor
- Mix beef, rice, and eggs
- Add Dinovite to the mix and stir thoroughly
- Refrigerate 2-3 days servings in zip lock bags or plastic containers. Freeze any additional and remove to thaw as needed.
Serving size: Start with the amount you're currently feeding and adjust according to weight gain or loss. (You can't go by 'hunger' as they will definitely overeat on this! lol)
Suggestions:
- You can use any meat - we find ground beef is fairly economical and quick and easy to cook. We have also used freezer burned roasts, chicken, or leftover turkey.
- The egg shells are for calcium. You can crush them by hand but I find my food processor is much easier - I just put the cold eggs in whole.
- You control the amount of carbs by cutting back on the amount of rice. It is to use more in the recipe but less would not be a problem, especially if your dog needs to lose weight.
- Always let your ingredients cool before adding the Dinovite as heat will destroy the delicate nutrients in the supplement.
- Approximate Serving Sizes 10 lb. dog – 1/2 cup daily

40 lb. dog – 2 cups daily
60 lb. dog – 3 cups daily
