Howdy! We're Jeff, Tina, and Wyatt and we own the Rocking V Ranch. We are first generation ranchers focused on giving our cattle their best lives and healing the soil through regenerative practices.
In 2022, after 30 years in Nevada, we decided to swap the bright lights of Las Vegas for quiet, small town life in central Oklahoma where we established the Rocking V Ranch.
I'm often asked ‘Why Oklahoma?’ and ‘Why Texas Longhorns?’. Choosing Oklahoma was easy as I am an Oklahoma native with family throughout Oklahoma and Texas.
But why Longhorns? When we decided to make the move, Jeff knew he wanted cattle and started researching various breeds. Even though I grew up in cattle country I had little experience with cattle. Jeff decided the Texas Longhorn fit all of his wishes. It is a heritage breed that is still recovering from near extinction in the 1920s. Longhorns are also hardy breed known for being heat and cold tolerant, disease resistant, ‘easy keepers’, and great mamas that can calve into their 20’s. And of course, we both fell in love with their beauty! Texas Longhorns are a true icon of the American West.
It's taken a couple of years but in addition to breeding registered Longhorns, we are offering grass-fed beef. Our beef herd is made up of Longhorn-Charolais cross calves as well as pure Texas Longhorns.
Regenerative ranching is important to us and we apply regenerative practices whenever and wherever possible. Our herds are rotationally grazed which improves the soil and ensures our cattle are getting the widest possible plant diversity we can offer. We also use natural supplements like sea salt minerals and apple cider vinegar further support effective rumen and herd health.
We are proud that our cattle are never given hormones, growth stimulants, steroids, or unnecessary antibiotics or medications.
